Welcome to CISCO IT Essentials at Wirral Met. This course, accredited and verified by CISCO Networking Academy, will introduce you to a wide range of skills needed for a career in IT. You will develop your knowledge in computer components, procedures, troubleshooting, and much more, whilst also developing your critical thinking and problem solving.
Course Details
This course is the exciting first step towards a rewarding career in IT, covering the computer fundamentals and skills needed for an entry-level role within IT. You will work using advanced simulation tools, whilst also gaining hands-on experience with parts and components. Topics covered include: - Installation and configuration - Troubleshooting devices and maintenance - Identifying common security threats - Critical thinking and problem solving - Operating systems and networks - Laptops, portable devices, printers and scanners

This is an evening course running for 3 hours per week over 30 weeks. This course starts in September 2024
Entry Guidelines


To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1  Functional Skills in English and Maths)
                                     OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)

Satisfactory interview and/or assessment

Assessment Method
This course is assessed throughout with assessments, practical and theoretical exercises. It will also prepare you for CompTIA A+ Certification, should you wish to complete it.
